Okay, so for those that don't know, I am not only BP, both my children are as well.
Okay, so this last year has been really hard with my teenage daughter yo-yoing in and out of the hospital. At the end of June, I thought I could breath a sigh of relief, she was stable.
My son went manic at school Friday, flipped out on the principal, and ran out of the school, claiming he was headed for the highway which is only two blocks from the school.
He also made the statement that he wanted to kill a certain girl. The school counselor was there, and she was like, we need to do an intervention. My son was so wound up, that I was like, no, I need to get him to the hospital. They let it go, and we left.
The boy I took to the hospital...I'm having a hard time accepting that. It was like he was possessed. His eyes were too wide, he kept clapping his hands over his ears and rocking, or digging his fists into his eyes. He later told me that he was hearing a man screaming and seeing flashes of light, and then had this vision of a man killing a girl inside this house he's never seen before.
I don't think I'm strong enough for this. I don't know how to handle my own shit, and I gotta hold it together and be supportive for my daughter, and I gotta watch my son try and handle this. I understand what he's going through, but my mom and husband are like, why didn't you beat him? They don't get that this isn't the same problem as some kid just acting up. My dad is like, It's the video games he plays, he doesn't have any morals.
WTF?

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

Thanks for letting me vent.
((((BIG HUG))))
Step back. Relax. Breathe. Look at the big picture. What needs to happen to proceed?
#1 your son needs help. Is he in the hospital? If not maybe he needs to be there for observation. Is he on meds? Maybe they need re-evaluated if he already is. If not then maybe it's time to explore that avenue.
#2 what has your daughter tried for panic attacks? They can be horrible, I still get them. remind her to breathe. Concentrate on the now.
You can do this!
sheesh, WTF is right. thank heavens you're there and can be the voice of reason.
your son is where he needs to be, and it is the absolute safest place for him at the moment. he will get meds and he will make it through this. (((HUGE hugs))) to the whole family..
Being a parent with bi polar is tough. But you need to be there for your kids because it sounds like no one else is. Beating them definitely isn't an answer.
I hope you have at least one person in your life that you can count on because you are going to need all the love and support you can get.
I think the scariest part of this for me is that your mother and husband want to beat him!!!.. Does your husband live with you and your son?..
I think that reaction to a sick child is horrific!
I'm so sorry you and your family are going through such a terrible time right now..
Great big hug for you and a blessing..x
It's going to be ok -- challenging but ok. I hope your son is getting the treatment he needs at the hospital. Are the panic attacks new for your daughter? Perhaps it would be appropriate for both you and your daughter to visit your pdocs and therapists for a little added support during this time.
For your mom and dad, simply thank them for caring and deal with their ignorance later.
Where is the boy's father? Is he supportive during this process?
Hang in there Fairie. You can do this cuz we've all got your back.
My daughter's panic attacks are new, and she doesn't go back to her pdoc until November. Gonna have to do a walk-in to the clinic for an antianxiety med.
My husband is very confused by all of this. He still thinks our daughter was making it all up to get out of school last year. He doesn't understand how I can be okay one second and crying the next, to screaming my head off at nothing(in his opinion) the third. He tries to be supportive, but he doesn't get it.
I know you're not supposed to share meds, but I gave my daughter one of my Hydroxyzines and about ten minutes later, her panic attack subsided. I tried going through the self hypnotizing/self soothing technique I always use, but she kept getting distracted. Definitely gonna have to talk to her therapist too.
Somehow us mom's find a way to stay strong/supportive/ and keep going for our kids. You can do this and we are here for you to vent to to get out what you can.
You did the right thing for you son. He is where he needs to be to get the help he needs. Is there anyway possible to get your daughter in to see her pdoc sooner. Panic attacks are awful. I had one in the middle of wal-mart once.
My husband didn't understand at first, he still has a hard time understanding some, but if you don't have it you don't understand it fully, but my husband does go to my pdoc's with me, he will go to my therapist with me when he needs to. She just calls him and tells him to be here at this time and he says okay. They have helped him in so many ways. He knows what to watch for and in many ways how to help me. Will you husband even consider doing any of these things?
I know that if someone even attempted to beat my child over this, they would have gotten the beating. To even say that was beyond wrong.
I will keep you, your children and everyone in my Prayers honey.
Big Hugs!!
