Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
Its true that our brains change dramatically throughout our life, but it could be a few more years if ever before you need a change. Please don't think that because you have always taken them or the same ones at a high dose that you can suddenly have the dose lowered and or stopped and that you'll be fine.
Sadly bipolar doesn't work like that. It doesn't go away there is no magic cure yet so to keep us from the darkside of life we need the meds and if that means that from childhood until death we need them, as long as they are working then so be it.
I see no harm in trying IF I get a pdoc and reastset and he thinks it would be an ok thing..ALL docter assited..maybe hosptail I had a really bad time befor when I had to ween off a drug..( and my docter did nothing* i should have been hosptalizeda*) Its just a idea a hope that could be..ALOT of people I know (in preson) that didnt have (bad) bipolar ..that have been off meds for yrs ..and are okay Im sure they have there sleps but human all get depressed, anger, rage, happy.if u can handle it with out pills then why not??how do i know that Im not one that can
Soon l'll be back on the cocktail of meds to keep them in check, if you are allowed to lower or stop your meds don't forget that you will be much more vulnerable to outside life from the food you eat to the people you meet all could trigger off a mood swing.
Because even though you would be living meds free and desiring a life the same as everyone else having bipolar makes you special to them, so you have to be careful much more than the average person. Good luck hun x
