Has anyone ever been dually diagnosed (i.e. bipolar disorder and ADHD)? My psychiatrist has me diagnosed as bipolar 1 severe and I think it's a load of crap. If I do have bipolar, I don't think it's 1 or severe, plus I have some traits of ADHD, which I think can go hand in hand with bipolar.

I just want to hear from anyone who may be in this boat and what your experience has been.

dual diagnoses, i thought, meant you had a mental illness and an addiction (drug or alcohol) problem.

chuggernaught has bp and adhd.. search for him, he may be able to help

Maybe see how the pdoc's treatment goes...if your 'adhd' traits improve?

I'm dually diagnosed with drug addiction/alcoholism and bipolar and OCD.

I can't tell the difference between my two mental illnesses. I am just generally screwed up.

I just got diagnosed as Bipolar 2 with Borderline Personality Disorder.

To keep it simple, life sucks most of the time and the time it doesn't it sucks for everyone else.

I'm diagnosed with ADHD inattentive type, Bipolar II, and Anxiety/Panic Disorders. There are a lot of symptoms that cross over from ADHD and Bipolar.

is when you have a mental illness and chemical addition.

When I sponser women I prefer to work with those that have dual diagnosed

Why you may ask. The main reason is that when you have a PMI it is impotant to stay on your meds.

When you try and work with a sponser that does not understan PMI they can give you bad advice to get off all meds.

I have Bipolar I severe, ADHD, and Generalized Anxiety Disorder. They are distinct in me as far as I can tell. But the anxiety does fuel the mania sometimes.

cathipurple is correct.

Dual diagnosis is mental illness and chemical addiction.

2 or more mental dx is comorbidity.

I have BP1 with a comorbid dx of borderline personality disorder.

You probably don't have as many dx in GBR because state health doesn't want to put in the effort.
