Hi everyone ! How are you all doing?
Just want to apologize for the way I reacted to another user on DS last time I posted a topic about drug abuse. I was completely irrational and defensive, you know who you are. I'm sorry.
Update as of today- I am clean, (swear to GOD never looking back, I know they all say that but I'm f'n serious. You cant IMAGINE what those withdrawals were like.)
But during the midst of trying to get my act together as far as substance abuse, I dropped out of BP treatment. No meds. No therapy. Nothing. I am getting back in, (made the phone call today, waiting for them to call me back) but I NEED bipolar meds. I am mixed types bipolar and I find that its difficult to treat. My previous pdocs I've told I dont want to gain ANY weight with medication and I'm thinking most of them that is the side effect?
What do some of you recommend I request or ask about? I know they should know and do their job but weight gain is a very big NO for me and I'm thinking my options are limited then. HELP. I need the right meds. Havent been on any BP meds yet! Just Nuerontin, Buspar for my anxiety, Zoloft for my PMDD and then on my last visit to the pdoc, he perscribed me a Beta Blocker? SMH... as you can see I am in need of a new PDOC. Hoping for a good turn out with this one!

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.
I have tried a whole gammat of medicines, ranging from Lithium, Epival, Risperdal, Invega, Latuda, etc., and all of them seemed to not help much with my mental state, or caused very bothersome side effects (extreme weight gain (25+ lbs.), severe fatigue, painful muscle spasms, loss of menses, etc.).
Right now, I try to control my stress levels on a daily basis (no work, etc.), engage in a lot of physical activity, proper nutrition, lots of water, sunlight, and it seems to be working fine at the moment. I'm able to be productive, and am doing better off now, than I was when I was on medicine. I'm a lot happier with my life now, too.
That's just my experience, though. Everyone's condition is different, and everyone reacts differently to meds.
I'm glad your treatment went well... It's a long road ... There are good boards on here that are also very supportive of sobriety... Big hug...xo
