Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
Last night I realized I had forgotten to take my a.m. meds. So I said to my husband "guess I won't be flying any planes today".
Ok...maybe it's too soon.
But I find humor in the absurd....otherwise life wouldn't be worth living.
For me Lithium works. One time they were those damn tabs that forever had me going to see a pdoc for blood tests.
These days they are my love pills and they keep me grounded without going too far down, and if I feel the racing thoughts of going up, then a small increase in dose keeps me grounded. Off course one has to be careful with Lithium in your blood. A 750 count suits most beepers 500 is good for me. If levels get to 1000 then its danger time - so you decrease the dose with your doctors advise .
Not sure about other mood stabilisers, I have only been on those when hospitalised after manic highs that were totally out of control.
It took a long time for me to get to this stage. Been seeing pdocs since I was 18. I am not blas about it. I guess my head may explode again one day, but right now I am downbut.........grounded.
