Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.

Are you asking opinions on certain meds ?
Are you asking what meds we bipolar people take ?
Are you newly diagnosed bipolar ?
I think the first step is for you to get a second opinion about bipolar if you are not sure - I'm assuming you did get a diagnosis and that's why you are on valproate.
So get a second opinion and then discuss alternative medications for bipolar if that is confirmed.

you are probably better asking about member's experiences on the main board - I get the feeling it's pretty polarized, great for some, not so good for others.
Abilify was not a good fit for me, my major BP issue is crippling suicidal depression and for that Lithium and more recently Tegretol was the better choice along Anti-Depressants and usually Seroquel and an Anti-Anxiety med like Klonopin. My Cocktail was always a lil complicated to keep it working.
But Abilify just never did much for me.
