Ok, I dunno what the heck to call it but it happened again. One minute I'm looking at the breakfast menu the next I am totally lost as to where I am or who I am and I felt like I was outside of my body watching myself. Horrid feeling. Luckily the menu had the name of the hotel I was staying at written on it and I was able to not panic. Deep breaths and all that calming stuff. I kinda talked myself down. The memory lapse was pretty brief. But then it... the whatever kinda de IT is, kept happening throughout breakfast. At one point my boss asked if I was fine and I had to just tell him that I felt like I was fading. He probably chalked it up to low blood sugar or something. When I went back to my room I could feel it happening again so i just lied down and took some deep breaths for a while and recited as much info as I could remember about my current location.... And it's happening again. Jeez, it's like a vacuum is sucking me out of my body. I felt pretty weird when I woke up, a bit disoriented but I just ignored it. Has anyone else felt this way? What do you do that helps?

I have never felt that but have felt flat before usually it comes with depression. Maybe you could check your meds for any side effects just a thought. I hope you feel better.

I had a brief psychotic break last night, at least that's what my pdoc calls it. Everything around me is in motion and my thoughts are detached from my head. I'm floating in a sea of carpet trying to figure out the words coming out of my mouth through my hands and to write. For me, it happens occasionally and I just try deep breathing and progressive relaxation, looking for items in the room I can identify and connect to like a lifeline - I usually don't remember WHAT I was thinking or doing, someone else (hubby) tells me when I'm lucid again. Breathe and it will pass. Eventually. And then I'm back to breathing normally and feel like I'm in my own skin. Last night it was about an hour long but it isn't always that long and usually doesn't happen in my house. My pdoc and I think it's caused by stress and anxiety building to a point that my mind won't go. I'm sorry Iam - you are not alone. (((hugs)))

Thanks for sharing, SK. I have found that focusing on something I can identify and deep breaths help. I'm not certain what caused it. I'm not stressed, I wasn't anxious. Maybe it was being alone in an unfamiliar place?
