This past week I finished up my case for dissability and now and am just waiting for their decision. How many people got it on their 1st try? Did you end up having to get a lawyer? The first woman I spoke with said I would probably be denied at first..But between my phychiatrist and theirs I am thinking I have a shot.

I was accepted into SSDI my first try. No lawyers. Good luck to you, chris - I hope it goes well.

I had to get a lawyer but no fees unless I got my disability. I got it on the second try.GOOD LUCK!!

Been turned down twice. Am up for a third try before a judge
sometime after the first of the year, but will miss the court
date because I have no way to keep in contact with my
attorney. I wouldn't hold out much hope for it anyway.

Can you get your lawyers info on the internet and email him from the library? I just spoke to a lawyer recently and he said most people get it when it goes to court. I wish you luck.

I got it on my first try but that was 12 years ago and I think it was easier then. I had also had four hospital stays in one year so I guess that helped. I had a lawyer, my pdoc didn't seem to care one way or the other if I got it. I hate how long it takes to hear back, I had a review this year, I sent the forms back in freakin' July and still haven't heard anything.

I applied for fibro. Took me an advocate, one denial and next time I got it. I am coming up for review. With the dx of bipolar being added to my list i feel sure I won't be refused at my review. To heretic, don't be so down. Get a good advocate and try. With the mountain of paperwork involved I am glad I did! To be turned down the first time Is not unusual, in fact it's very common.
