I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
What process did you use and how long did it take to get it?
I'm on disability...I work part time too. Part of what I do at work is help people apply and yes win...their disability cases.
You can now apply online... recently, cases that get approved first time, have only been taking about 8-10 weeks! Big change from the old days.
A few tips....be sure your pdoc and tdoc will support a claim of disability. And, what is your history, meaning, how long have you been dx, when did you stop working due to bipolar, any hospitalizations, if so how many and when?
You can apply online at www.ssa.gov got to disability and then to apply on line.
Also, if you go to http://ssa.gov/disability/professionals/bluebook/AdultListings.htm
Click on 12.00 Mental disorders and then look for 12.04 Affective Disorders you will find the exact criteria used by the Disability Determination Dept to approve a finding of disability based upon Bipolar. It's worth looking to see if you fit the criteria.
Feel free to message me or post here if you want more info or have specific questions.
I found it easier to call...once I had them on the phone it was like a 15 minute call. They made an appointment for like 3 days later in person at the SS office for me and my wife.
Right on time they called us back and we were there about 2 hours for the interview. The guy that helped us was VERY nice and comforting.
It was not a bad expierence at all.
He said there are alot of myths out there about denials...so I would suggest being careful listening to all the negative. There are lots of those stories but not alot of the positive storeis
The only SS hearing I ever went to was held at our local court house. In the court room was the judge, my client and I. It's the only case I've handled all the way to a hearing. I won the case, but walked out of there with my knees knocking and promised myself I'd never represent someone in front of the judge again...way too stressful for me.
The trick is, if you get turned down, carefully read the rejection. They have to list all the specific reasons they denied you. You then have to take them one at a time and find a way to disprove their finding. Sometimes its as simple as they don't have all the information. Good luck to you.
From my experiences it is certainly best to use an attorney if you want to get approved. It seems liks so many people just get flat out denied and are left with no assistance. A great resource I used for research was http://www.disabilitydenials.com/ . It answers a lot of questions and really prepares you for the process. Hope this helps!
