Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.

Cymbalta works more for nerve pain. The pain from Depression is more "achy, muscle, flu" type pain. Generally hot baths, heating pads, getting up and moving around, stretching, and an anti-inflammatory like Ibuprofen are more effective for depressive pain. When you get depressed, you tend to just curl up and hide somewhere, like bed or the couch....the combination of not moving, curling up in a tight body position trying not to be seen by people or the world, and just not having the desire to be part of life, creates tension and lengthy moments of time where your body and muscles are stagnant. All of these things work together to cause muscle pain and achy-ness. When you're depressed, although it goes against all you want to do, it's best to get up and move around, even if its just to walk around the house a little each hour or stretch in bed. Taking hot baths can relax you. Take ibuprofen helps with the body aches.
If you're not someone with BiPolar who normally takes Anti-depressants, its most likely because your Pdoc feels they would cause a negative effect. Anti-depressants can often cause hypomanic or Manic episodes in BiPolar patients, yes even though they are supposed to treat Depression.
I doubt your Psychicatrist (Pdoc) is not listening to you, its just part of chronic Depression, you have to be willing to work though life skills and coping skills to get through it. There aren't meds that make it go away. You have to get up and move around and stretch out your muscles, move your joints and do things to work through the pain. Part of managing BiPolar is working all the things that manage it, i.e. eating properly, getting sleep, exercising, using coping skills, taking your meds, using your Therapist....all of it.
Heat will be your best friend for body aches and muscle pain, Ibuprofen will help, but you have to get up and move around throughout the day.
Take care.

Have you talked with your family doctor about the physical pain... you could perhaps have other reasons ruled out and then address it with your pdoc again if it's psychological.... You could always simply say " I don't feel like you're listening to me"
