I'd appreciate any advice on depakote er. I know it cause weight gain for some people. I definitely took it too late last night because I'm really groggy today. I'm hoping I can get adjusted to it.

I have been on Depakote ER for about 7 years.

After going through the whole routine of trying to find anything ...SOMETHING , to stabilize me ...Depakote finally worked !

The major side effect I've noticed is a bit of lethargy.
Some people call it the "Zombie Effect " ...a blunting of the emotions .

Also some hair loss, a bit of weight gain, I sneeze a lot , some gatro intestional discomfort.

But it's better than being psychotic or all over the map mood wise

Give it a few weeks to get to therapeutic levels

i was on it for about 10 years overall, first for migraine prevention then for bp. i had no problems with it, it worked great until it stopped working.

Well I've been on it for 2 days and I have ZERO appetite. That's not good for me since I'm a few pounds lighter than I should be.I really wish my p doc would put me back on lamictal. My brother told me to ask me pcp for the lamictal. Maybe it's time for a new p doc.
