I have been on Depakote for about 4 years.

I take 750 Mg 1 time a day...I use the Extended dosage version.

So far Depakote has been the only med to keep me pretty stable.

It does tend to cause a Blunted feeling...but lately it hasn't been so bad, so maybe over time , your body adjusts to the Blunted feeling.

Depakote should start working immediately, reaching full theraputic levels in about a month

My pdoc put me on 1500 mg ER right away, I'm up to 2000mg now and I noticed right away how sleepy it made me, about a week in it got worse for about a week and then tapered off. My appetite got a little out of control too. I did notice a depressive state that started when i began taking it and then I felt flat and dull, it took awhile (like four to six weeks) for me to not feel so flat. I did notice a stable period but am now experiencing a depressive state, about two months after starting Depakote. I've got a lot going on emotionally too, issues I'm dealing with.

I am on 250 mg every 12 hours, husband says I am still moody:(

Now on 500 mg twice a day:) working a little so far.
