Do you think there will ever be some type of cure that you might could reset your neurons and brain chemistry? Abilify is the closest thing I have heard because it tries to balance your brain cells and not completley suppress them like our other meds do. Do you think if there was a cure it would come out to the public or do you think that there is to much money for big pharma to make on the bandaids they sell us?

I find myself going places in the car and not wanting to get out of the car. I come back home and I don't want to get out of the car. I think it's the only time I spend reflecting. Wow, it's the middle of the week already!Today is our 11 year anniversary, so we're going out to a nice dinner. I'm losing a lot of sleep these days, hence a wonky schedule and uncomfortable feelings. But I know it will pass, eventually.I hope all of you have a peaceful day, and may good things come your way!
I am 50 years young and have beeen dealing with this (tho didnt have a good idea of what it was until they changed my d 15 years ago) ever since I was a kid I am good without a cure
I don't think big pharma would avoid providing a cure but my way of thinking a "cure" would not be forever taking a med.
It would be something like a gene therapy thing, done once and you are "normal" - no side effects.
But I'm really not sure how easy that will be given as there are so many genes involved and the potential for getting it wrong so big.
Abilify just has a better marketing team behind it. (which you pay for - especially if you are in the US where drugs are about 50% more than anywhere).
besides 10 yrs 2 state hospitals and several stays a year in a phospital and all I needed was my 82 yr old pdoc at the time convince me to try lith again with my lamictal. stable now for 4.5years ........thats my victory .........thats my current cure because I have a life now :) sometimes the old meds were the best but got thrown away like an old skirt that went out of fassion..
LOL....you're joking right? there's probably more people here that HAVE had that than haven't.
i think once we understand stem cells, there will be mass eradication of diseases.
It is work but what in life is not work? If the voices in your heas was response to me yes I do know what that is and I know what it is to si and I know what it is to hurt so bad I almost made it to no longer breathing permaniatly. Ive been pined down locked up put on one on one for 6 mths....they threatened to only relese me to a group home which with agoraphobia well that would of burried me. I had my control of my money taken and a payee thrown into my life. Ive also been assigned a case manager to watch over me. Now they help me reconstruct my life so its no longer a punnishment for being ill.
have taken so many antipsychotics old & new but the first time I took abilify was revelatory
when I used to go to bp support groups in NYC- everyone (bp1) was saying the same thing
Some pdocs say (the ones I know) that it 'works' for bp1- gives immense peace, calm, clarity but others who are given it become revved up & agitated.
The drawbacks are why I stay off it too (when I can) the diabetes, heart impact & because you can't exercise/overheat when taking it etc x But Hot Damn- if they could fix all that (one can dream) that would be something x
