Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.

How do you cope with grief? Even more so when its someone you've never met?
My baby should have been born today (more info in my journal) and I'm grieving for a child I have never held, a baby I don't even know the sex of.
Is it normal to be hypomanic yet grieving at the same time?

you are dealing with feelings that are your own. No one can tell you whether it is right or wrong or even how you should feel. Grieve how you need to and lean on others if you need help.

I've never known if there was a right or wrong way to grieve, I suppose it comes from my dx, I was grieving then and I worry I'll go the same way and end up in hospital

Sorry to hear aboutb your loss. You grieve however you want to, it is normal. You carried that child, you were looking forward to holding him/her, but never had that opportunity. You have every right to grieve. Accept support from family and friends, you are going to need all the suport you can get. And remember this, your grieving your loss has nothing at all to do with being bipolar, it may add to it, but it is not a bipolar reaction. Again, so sorry for your loss.

I am sorry for your loss. I don't know if it's 'normal' to be hypomanic and grieving at the same time I can only tell you that I have been both at the same time when my Mom died rather shortly thereafter when it finally hit me.

There is no right way to greive. I cried when I found out my dad died. (2 years now). I'm estranged from my family and no one bothered to even tell me he passed until 4 months after the fact. YOU KNOW, SINCE I HAVE BP, I'D CAUSE A SCENE. What a bunch of ignorant, uneducated people. You grieve in your own way. You wouldn't have any feelings if you didn't. What a great mom you are. You grieve for your baby. That's how it should be. Cry, draw, paint, start a group...you're in charge of your healing now. Best of luck to you friend. Barb-Detroit
