I have some things i have experienced lately, that i now realize is part of my mania, that i am not proud of. I know i can confess them 2 u guys since u have probably experienced similar things. I recently had an internet sexcapade w/ another man even though i am married. Even as i was doing it, i was so shocked & felt like it was so out of character, but it felt so good to get the attention, i just couldnt help myself. I recently also dabbled in a little shoplifting, mostly small jewelry items. I know thats wrong, but again, it was a compulsion. I also have noticed ive been wearing more extravagant clothing,, jewelry, heels lately, which i read can be part of mania. And compulsive shopping for sure. I am new to the possible dx of bipolar ii, so am just starting to sort these things out.

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

I think all of us who suffer from manic episodes have " stories " we could share .
I don't have a lot of advice, only stuff you probably already know.
Stay away from flirty on line relationships , and keep your hands off the merchandise
(Hugs)
I've done the flirty thing.
Forgive yourself.
Formulate a program.
Stay away from bad people.
If the b hits the b and someone is being unfair, then stand up for yourself.
Stay near protective, positive and low key friends.
I'd be up front with your doctor about it.. Therapy can help you with coping skills and alternative outlets for the behaviour..
Being bipolar doesn't give us a free pass so there can be some severe consequences that go along with it.. Relationships break up.. criminal charges etc..
There is help for this sweetie and venting on here is a good thing to do..smile..xo
I like Dd advice.....stay away from flirty stuff and keep hands in pockets.
Def. let your pdoc know about your behavior so he/she may treat you the best they know how to. I don't keep anything from my pdoc...and though things have been rocky for me lately due to stressors I think we finally have the meds right!!!
you were unaware and it was exciting - now you know these are dangerous, go to jail, loser your home, get an STD... you should try and set up ways to NOT...
Awareness gives us a choice - you have the choices, of getting better or worse.... (((BIG HUG)))) We've all been there!
As far as the shoplifting, yes, all part of mania.... Talk to your psychiatrist about this risky behavior to tweak meds perhaps... good luck!
I know that I've heard people on here talk about more frequent masturbation and sex toys when feeling hyper sexual if your hubby can't keep up and many can't
He was hurt but at the time the marriage was in the crapper anyway, I ended up leaving shortly afterward. I also suggest you don't tell your hubby, just learn from it and move on.
Please be kind to yourself, don't beat yourself down because of an indiscretion, it happens we move on and hopefully do not do it again. I def would tell the therapist, you can't get arrested for something you did a while ago (you probably can't remember what store the stuff came from anyway-and if you do don't rat on yourself).
Therapy will help with putting your mind at ease, talk to your Pdoc, I'm sure he can help with an adjustment etc. Good luck to you!
