What OS are you using?

Sound card as well use you can get a icon for both the os and the sound card from the control panel on ms os if hat helps.

Im using windows Vista. where do I find the icons so I can drag and drop them?

does it do any thing at all when you click on it? for example does the hour glass or circle now appear but nothing happens or does it just not click on it? Are you able to click on every thing else or is that the only thing you can't click on?

Also I am pretty sure that you can't find it in the control panel that is why you can figure out which heading it is under.

Also I would open up the device manager (hopefully you know how) that is more likely where you will find it. Volume is a program that operates the sound card and speakers which are devices.

It could be a bad sound card or speaker but try seeing if the driver is working first if it's not you will need to try updating or restoring it to a previous version. You should find those options.

you should find the device manger by going to the control panel and clicking on systems and security and then under administrative tools. then click on computer management and the device manager should be in the left hand panel.

er I forgot to edit that first statement out sorry it is in the control panel. LOL

Thank you everyone-what it took was to terminate Windows Explorer in Task manager and restart it.

Scared Ivan to death when everything disappeared off the screen but ctr alt delete brought them back.
