Clonzapam Side Effects

Hi, I was just recently prescribed clonzapam. It is making me extremely tired during the day. Whenever, I take it for a couple hours. Does anyone know how long this will last. Does my body need to get used to the medication. Any help with this would be helpful.

I am afraid that my fears about the medication may be making the side effect worse.

hi, clonzapam is a tranquilizer, it's given for anxiety and panic or as an anti-convulsant.

While it might be given to patients with true mania as an initial sedative to make the patient more managable.

It's nott a bipolar med - what else are you on?

I currently to Abilify and Lamictal as well as wellburtin.

The doctor gave me clonzpam because the Abilify was making me feel nervous all day.

So doc gave it to you because Abilify caused anxiety. Was or is your own anxiety that bad that you need something for it during the day? The sedating part does wear off but it can be difficult if you have to work of function on it. I take it but not during the day. I take it to help me relax and sleep at night.

The anxiety started to get bad during the day and was effecting things. However, I cant do the clonzapam because I am useless for at least 4 hours after I take it. I have kids I have to be able to take care of during the day.

I called the doc to see what else can be done.

Ask your doctor if they can reduce the dose, I am on that drug also but I take higher doses then you probably and I have a high tolerence for benzos

I am almost on the exact same thing you are except I'm taking paxil instead of wellbutrin. I'm feeling the same effects with the Klonopin, but on top of Bipolar II, I also have GAD, so the Klonopin was already previously prescribed to me.

Does that haziness or tirendness ever "lift?" Mine takes about about 4 hours until I don't feel drowsy anymore. I wanted to take it at night, but the Abilify made me too anxious in the AM.

What dosage are you on? I'm taking 0.5 mg and taking 2mg of Abilify.

I take 1mg twice daily, and have for years. It works great for anxiety for me and I never noticed it making me tired.

That is one of the side effects though, you may be on too high of a dosage. What dosage is it?

    Wow, it's the middle of the week already!Today is our 11 year anniversary, so we're going out to a nice dinner.  I'm losing a lot of sleep these days, hence a wonky schedule and uncomfortable feelings.  But I know it will pass, eventually.I hope all of you have a peaceful day, and may good things come your way!
