Helped me a ton.
Not everyone believes a 10-year-old can be properly dx'd with BP.
Just keep working with psychiatric staff, especially pediatric psychiatrists.
Therapy is key, too!
Best of luck. I always say this, too, but still...it's a hard, hard road.
But you asked about How not to be triggered. You know what upsets you, so you plan on how your going to act, or think - when you see it coming!
you replace bad thoughts, and you whiteknuckle it, heart beating fast, stomach hurting - and you do something different, you don't go "with" the trigger, you disconnect it!
You train your mind - when your not upset, you tell yourself a 100 times, your write journal - and you learn when she "loses it" you can't handle it - you remind yourself she is sick, and it has nothing to do with you, if she screams, convince yourself screaming is no big deal... you work on, pracitce, and remove the trigger - if if it doesn't work all the time, it will work a lot of the time!
You are the adult, you have to work harder, train and relearn your reactions. Both of you upset, could only make things worse! So, on an airplane, they always say for The MOTHER to put the mask on First, you cannot help or save your child, if your not calm and take care of yourself.
You and your family are in my prayers! LOL for me Bipolar and coping skills is a job, and school! ((((((BIG HUG))))
