It sounds like you might need to have your dose lowered a bit, to get over the hangover. I am on Seroquel and used to have the same type of hangover, but now that I have reduced my dose, it is much better.

doc gave me 80 mgs of this. i did not react well at all to it. and it would seem it has a low success rate on the board here. when i looked up what other people had to say about it, i would have rather tried the lithium. whatever...

talk to your doc about something better, if you are afraid of getting into an accident, that isnt good. people on the board say lamictal works well???

I am currently taking 100mg of Lamictal, and 80 of Geodon. This past week the meds changed, from 200 Lamictal and 60 Geodon. The tweaking of the meds is driving me crazy. I was feeling OK on the previous dosage, but I was experiencing an unbearable side effect of severe cystic acne from the Lamictal, so my doc switched me up a bit to see if we could help that.
I would do anything to stop the acne, but the Geodon hangover is downright dangerous for me. I was taking it in the morning and evening, but the morning dose was too much for me to handle side effect wise.
I just want something to work, dammit. I feel so desperate.

I know how you feel. I have been playing the meds game for what seems like eons, and still do not have it figured out.

Try to see if you can go back on the 60 mg of Geodon. Or maybe try Abilify as it has fewer side effects than most APs, or even Seroquel.

Just wanted to comment on seroquel since some have mentioned it, i take it and when i wake up it takes at least 2 hours before i can drive, sounds the same as the geodon.

I've done Abilify and Seroquel, they both gave me insane tickly "restless" feelings all over my body, made it impossible to sleep. Also, I will not take anything that will make me gain weight. (Seroquel was causing that for me too.) I know I should hold my mental health as a higher priority, but I have suffered from eating disorders for 20 years, and weight gain would truly make me suicidal. I cannot handle that.
I am definitely going through a depressive episode which doesn't help anything. I am hoping and praying that I can get used to the Geodon. The meds I am on now seem to be working allright, I don't want to get back into experimenting! Agh!

When I took Geodon I had the same problem. I had a very groggy feeling when I took 80 mg in the morning and 80 mg at night. My pdoc finally cut my morning dose to 40 mg and let me take the majority of it at night to help me sleep. I still had some grogginess, but I got used to it quickly. Plus, until I got used to it, I would take my lunch breaks to go home and sleep for an hour (although you may not have the luxury of a power nap).

Well, obviously they aren't working allright enought to stave off the depression that has just hit me over the past few days, but I was incredibly manic all summer, and they have helped with that.

Geodon had to many side effects for me. Overtired, nervous, detached, just not a good experience. Take pristiq 200mg., lamictal 200mg. invega 6mg. I felt a lot better when I started the invega. I also take trazadone and clonopin to sleep. Been on a lot of combos too. U might want to give invega a try. Been on it for about 2months and no side effects.

I have never heard of Invega. Maybe I will talk to my doctor about it. I tried Pristiq for a few months last year, it just didn't do anything for me. I do think I need to take some sort of anti-depressant though. Something to help a bit more than the mood stabilizers. I just don't know if any of the will work, rather than throwing me into a manic episode.
I have taken so many AD's, and they seem to either do nothing, or make me manic. Sigh.

seroquel did the same for me me and I finally had to quit, My sytrataagy whuch obviously cant work for you I am sorry was three espress on the way to work and a latte and then after be at work for 3 hours I'd WAKE up. Some meds just take a while to kick i but if has been more then two weeks I talk to my pddoc. Good luck

Invega is a good drug with little side effects (I know a lot of clients I have that are on it). I talked to my pdoc about it before we did the Abilify (oh how I miss my Abilify). I take a new anti-depressant with my Lamictal and it hasn't caused any mania..it is called Pexeva (it's like a new version of Paxil). I love it. I take a low dose to combat the probability of mania. The Geodon will do nothing for the depression and sometimes the Lamictal needs an extra kick from something. I hope you feel better soon.
