Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
When I am depressed I hide it pretty well in public. I am ALWAYS friendly (except in big crowds where I am anxious and withdrawn). I talk to everyone and wear a big smile everywhere. I give out compliments where I see them and try to brighten days with a positive attitude and a warm expression.
As for fitting the stereotype/public perception of mentally ill in public, no. I engage others in logical conversation, have good eye contact, dont come off as angry, sad, fearful, irritable
I often wonder if these things will change as I get older and have lived with this illness for longer. Will I begin to wear my symptoms on my sleeve? So many people in my groups present themselves as mentally ill without them having to explain it, and I feel so badly for them. Is that inevitable?
i get the same reaction with the few that I've told
Then there are times where I get overly confused and agitated , yea, maybe then
