Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.

I need to know if Suicide Hotline volunteers and counselors can GPS track your phone call as you're talking to them and secretly motion to someone else on the Suicide Prevention Team to send an ambulance to the address you're calling from?
Maybe I'm paranoid right now but I've heard this and I wouldn't put it past them. I need someone to talk to right now about my options, but being forced back into residential treatment right now would only make me worse.

I'm not sure... I used to volunteer at a Distress Centre before cell phones and we could have a trace put on a call if someone was threatening suicide so it wouldn't surprise me if they had a way of tracing a call if a person was saying they would commit suicide... That was the only thing we used it for or for committing a violent act.. Big hug for you sweetie..x

It seems to me that the surest way of avoiding hospitalization is to drop suicide as an option. After that there's all manner of support that you'll find. Be good to yourself.

I disagree with Tommymott. Sorry Tommy. IMHO if somebody is truly suicidal they should say so. I thought hospitalization was to get treatment and if the need be to save lives. What I mean is you don't need to be suicidal to be committed but suicide is a definite reason. Don't know much about psych. hotlines. I kind of think it depends on how serious the support worker thinks the caller is. All things considered.

Due to my increased paranoia, anxiety, and a panic attack over the weekend, my psychiatrist has put me back in a full dose of Zyprexa until further notice. Every time I think I'm getting ahead something happens and it's back to square one. I knew he was gonna do this but I can't help feeling disappointed. It is what it is.
