Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
Hey all,
I have bi-polar type 2, generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety and borderline persoanlity disorder tendencies.
I am on a few different meds (serequel, welbutrin xl, lamotrigine, lithium). Lithium being started August 2016.
I started with blood work 2x a week for a few weeks to make sure the lithium levels were level. I am on one of the lower doses (300mg tablets 3x a day totaling 900mg of lithium a day). Then i went to monthly then bi monthly blood work for testing levels.
Because i am on Lithium, my doctor runs blood work every 6 months (CBC, Thyroid, kidney etc etc. standard stuff i believe). So i have blood work july and January. both my January 2017 and July 2017 blood work shows my thyriod high (doc says grey area so not to concerned yet) but my WBC has also been high both blood works.
My recent doc appointment last week, my doctor has ordered another round of bloodwork for early January 2018 and well discuss at my next appointment. He said something about if my blood work is high we will have to look more into it. He mentioned something about blood disorder or something could be cause of meds, but the conversation was vague so i dont know much until after next round of blood work. trying not to think too much into it.
So i was just wondering if anyone else has had high WBC while on Lithium? I know thyriod can be common.
Thanks for taking the time to read this, i hope someone has some answers/similar stories.
Thanks,

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

Of course we're all different in our response to meds but if lithium carbonate is causing you problems you can switch to depakote or talk to your doc about lithium orotate (lower dose, much less side effects).
I would write down any questions that you have and ask him to be really frank with you at your appt so you can think about your options...... xo
Thank you both for the hugs and tour input
