Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
I'm sorry you're being viewed as a pushover or the like. That's simply not fair. I avoid confrontation like the plague! I'm considered "easy" to get along with -- that's because you can bet your life I'm not going to fight you back! As irish said, life is too short. And confrontation drives my anxiety - yet another reason to avoid it.
As of late, my son has been very depressed, but he is unwilling to talk about it. We believe it's because of a shoulder injury he had and an MRI that said he was totally O.K. I think he wanted a diagnosis JUST to put a name to the pain he has been experiencing. I tried sitting down with him and chatting - he can be very chatty - but he refused. He just about shut his room door in my face. I of course walked away, my hubby asked why I didn't confront him - 'cause that's not how I operate, I responded.
It's bad enough that I feel like I'm contagious all the time -- I don't want my son to suffer through the same times that I did. He is at the age where I had already begun to exhibit symptoms. Idk.
You ARE doing the best with what you've got. Praise yourself for that! I think a little cheerleading is in order! You're doing a great job in a very complicated situation. Give yourself a pat on the back!
