Does anyone w bipolar experience falling asleep while you're practically standing up?

Yes, but in my case it's been caused by medication, not bipolar.

I do also, but I'm not on medication. It usually only happens during times of depression or stress.

I am taking several different medications, but when that happens to me, it's usually when I'm more tired than usual. Especially if you have just started a new medication or stopped one, that could be why. But there could be other problems, too, so if it persists, I would see my dr. about it just to be sure.

Yes sometimes i am so tired that if i close my eyes i can grab a couple of minutes sleep while standing up. but then i only sleep about four hours a night so it has to be made up somewhere!

I had a problem getting tired while driving..yea I know..major problem. I found out I had sleep apnea and did a sleep study and got a CPAP mask....maybe you have sleep apnea? Just a thought.

like others have said I don't think this is a bipolar thing (unless you get major sleep deprivation) and it's more likely to be narcolepsy or med based.

not now, but I was allergic to a medication and was a walking zombie....could be medcation, could be the time of day you take medication. maybe ask pdoc if you can take at night. take care
