I want to tell my friends that I am bi polar.But now with all of these hi profile cases I am so afraid of being rejected.L:et me tell you what has happened.A
teenager had a fight with his mother and he stole a police car.It was involved in a high speed chase and people could have gotten hurt.He was bi-polar.So why did the school expel him? Another man who is bi polar started a fire.It seems that they told him to leave because he is a sloopy housekeeper.How many men do you know like to do housework? How many men cook,clean or do laundry? It is still the duties of the women..so why is he in jail? Now a friend of mine lost her husband and she has began to shoplift.I cant be a friend to her anymore ....you see in seattle if someone shoplifts well.....you are put in jail for one night.......now let me state this....The way that bi polar has been attacked by idiots like Tom Cruise and John Travolta....people tend to believe the words of the famous...Lets not mention Robin Williams and his bit on Manic Depression of Jay Leno.Is he kidding?Cant we all live in peace? Cant people see that we basically are peace loving and I am not at all interested in affairs and other drivel.My boyfriend committed suicide on
5/22/09 and he wasnt taking his medication.If medication wasnt so expensive...all of us would be able to function better.Blame the circumtances and leave us bi polar people alone...but as a poor senior citizen can I ask a stupid question...do you think it is possible for me to have a date with seattles

I'm not sure all these things can be blamed on the disorder. Setting fires, stealing police cars, and shoplifting are crimes. No matter if you were drunk, high, bipolar or post-menstrual at the time you committed the crime, you are not excused from your just punishment.
I'm not familiar with Robin Williams' bit on Manic Depression, but I sure do love his work! His mother was bipolar, you know, and he credits his need to 'cheer her up' as one reason he developed his incredible wit. He played the doctor in the Awakenings movie, based on a very interesting, factual book by Dr. Oliver Sacks, famous neurologist. I suspect Robin is probably at least hypomanic himself.
John Astin was bipolar. I don't know any other positive role models off the top of my head, but I'm sure everyone on this board knows at least one. We're everywhere!
I am very sorry to hear that your boyfriend passed so recently. Hope you get feeling better.
