I went to my appt. with my PSNP and she said the reason I was depressed was because the generic effexor I'm taking is not good. Here's why:
Here in America the name brand meds have a standard that the med should come within 1% dosage amount. The generics have around 20 to 40%. There are off shore drug companies that buy the generics and get the recipe. You know how when you make a copy that the copy isn't as good at the original. These off shore companies make the meds based on the generics that have less medication that it's suposed to and they take that and put less medication into their version. You then have meds. that have a lower dosage than what's actually prescribed.
This is what happened to me. It was so bad, I was experience withdrawl symptoms.

FDA requires that all generic drugs have exactly the same dosage, intended use, effects, side effects, route of administration, risks, safety, and strength as the original drug.
The difference is that when big sharks come up with a new dug they have already covered all the research and other expenses so they sell the 'recipe' cheaper to other little sharks...
We get bite either way.
My problem is the generic co-pay is only $15 while the brand is $35. Another problem is the drugstore often switches the generic manufacturers they use...one could be low and the other high so ya never know.
