What exactly happens when you get admitted to inpatient? I am struggling so bad right now with anxiety and depression my mom looked into a place. They said on the phone I would have to go to the emergency room and they will evaluate me to see if I was a candidate to go. I had a terrible reaction to seroquel so my p doc told me to stop taking it and go back on my trazodone. I'm so afraid of everything. I saw my t doc yesterday and I thought it helped. My pcp said maybe Benadryl would calm me down. I just really don't feel right.

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

I found them both to be very good experiences... You don't focus on anything other then getting well again... You have support 24/7 and people there to talk with if you need to around the clock... Your meds are adjusted under supervision ... I found that I started to improve very quickly in the hospital environment and I had wonderful support to help me to heal
Big hug for you sweetie... The hospital staff are there to help you...xo
I'm sorry you're feeling this way. Hugs and sending good thoughts your way!
my issues are Bipolar II and agoraphobia with panic disorder......the horrible part of the admission process is the er. I have been in the er from 6 hrs to 26 hrs and i have been shipped from 2 floors to 3 hrs away. I had a social worker document I was suicidal and had been for days when my case manager herself sat there and told the bitch i was not suicidal and had NOT been suicidal ............i got lucky that time the hospital they were sending me to 3 hrs away didn't accept me before a bed here opened.
i do well on line but not great in real life people contact.......in the hospitals here all rooms are two to a room ............one big shower room. you eat in a dining room the bedrooms are off limit during the day at group times at most facility so you are over dosed on people. and groups where they push you tp participate. everything is regimented. If you need anything you have to ask and wait.......IF your anxiety is worsened by a lack of control or a over exposure to people and you are NOT suicidal or homicidal...........do NOT go inpatient. I don't say that lightly. I do not say it out of bitterness or anger or anything. I think there is a time for hospital but if your not in danger to take a break is not a reason. because its not a break ....go to bed for a day ...i do my therapist gives me permission lol but not for to long danmit lol really think hard before inpatient
I found it to be heavenly! People take care of you...monitor your meds, group therapy, one on one therapy and you meet patients that have the same problems you so...so you don't feel alone and find that you're ok as a person just the way your.
I think inpatient helps. You're kind of cushioned from your problems and can deal with stuff one step at a time.
And don't forget to bring quarters - they all have pay phones!
