Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
I'm sure you need to be back on your doctor-recommended dosage of lithium, but you may not feel the effects in time now, to stop mania after more than 3 days of no sleep?
Please be careful, and do the Right thing - call the pdoc or someone if you miss another night - before we have to do the Humane thing and shoot you. (kidding!)
Seriously, Hugs, and be careful -
I have lived like that for a while. Three days is a bit much.
I use larazopan to sleep. I just do not want to get zombie ized.
Please take good care of yourself, Michael!!!!! (((((Hugs)))))
I think it is absoultly amazing that I could feel this good and be so focused after not sleeping for 3 days. Normally if I don't get at least 8 hours I'm dragging the whole day. It's a kind of magic! Hey that fits right in with my theme and my little avatar mage. I'm off to write a program I've been meaning to finish so while I'm smart I should get cracking. I'll look at it later and not understand it. Wow finally no depression at all! It's such a relief! I feel so free, like I could do anything I wanted.
I'm not calling my pdoc, she will be mad about me cutting down my lithium. I'll just ride this out and hope there isn't a crash coming. That would be bad.
it works.
If you're not going to stop yourself right now PLEASE put a plan in place for when you DO crash because you will plunge intio deep depression (what goes up must come down) and you may be suicidal. You may rapid cycle, you may have mixed episodes, which are incredibly dangerious. If the plan includes going to the ER, so be it. You also may make a complete dick of yourself at work and out yourself as a Beeper.
Believe me, your psycdoc is going to know what you're doing sooner or later - you're on a rollercoaster ride now and wherever it ends, it ain't gonna be pretty.
Lithium specifically prevents the higher sides of oour mood states and that's why you are like you are. And as someone said, be careful if you decide you'll take it and you max out. I had Lithium Toxicity due to being out in 43C heat all day and ended up in hospital and Man was I a sick puppy. If you are on Lithium for the first time there shakes happen to maost everyone - and they pass.
I've been there done that MM. Heed my words.
You sound like you are getting faster and faster and then stuck on that accelerator peddle for a time being.
