Most of are aware of school beginning and ending long before we start school. We then live the academic rhythm for between 10 and 20 years before going on to see offspring through the same routine.

There are currently no students in my household, but I think I am still responding to all that conditioning with a bit of mania.

Opines?

All through High School, I had a teacher who taught various classes in English Lit , Grammar .Vocabulary ect....

Every Monday we had a Vocabulary test.

For years after High School...and I mean YEARS ..like into my 30's..I'd wake up on Monday morning , in a panic, because I hadn't done my vocabulary memorizing

School patterns stay with us for a long time , me thinks

I agree. Just the Target sale ad gave me an anxious start, thinking about school supplies and such.

Next week I'm sending my dd an hour away for college. My first to flu the nest

I think it will be with me a long time.

I used to eat when I got home from school at 3-4pm. Then I got out of the habit when I stopped going to school. 10 years later, i went back to college and the habit came back like it had never been gone

Of course back in school at my old age - better believe I am going to eat at 3pm.

As for kids going back to school - ours don't return till after the 1st of September. I never wanted my kids to go back to school, because it meant I had to go back to work - because I was a teacher. LOL
