Back from the dr.'s

She said what I was experiencing wasn't unusual but if it keeps happening to come back in.  She did have blood drawn to see if my thyroid is functioning properly.  I do have hypothyroidism and taking medication for it.  Maybe I need higher doseage if it is a thyroid problem.   It will be a few days before I get the results.

Glad you went...thyroid can whack out the whole body system if it isn't at proper working level...huge factor in mood stabilization, weight, and energy level. Take care, ML

Hi Jenn. Glad you had a good appointment with your doctor. I have hypothyroidism too. I'm on lithium and its known to fry your thyroid. Lucky me, thats what happened and Im on meds for it as well. I get my levels tested about every 8 months to make sure things are in check. Last time it was done we made an adjustment. Hope you get to the bottom of your issues!

Thyroid really does affect everything. Back in about 2007, I had found a good med combo for my Rheumatoid Disease. I was so stable, I was able to stop my bipolar meds for quite a few years, successfully (I don't advise this for many reasons!) But the point is, I started getting very bad flares from the RA. I saw my pdoc and he was really good at picking up on things.

He had me tested for hypothyroidism. I was already on 100 mg, but I had fallen below the lowest acceptable number for TSH. He phoned in a script for 125, and in two days not only was I not cold in the summer, not exhausted, but the flares stopped.
