Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
Maybe your hubby just wanted to acknowledge your mutual friend but knew you weren't up to visiting with her. Don't let it worry you as she will understand if she is a true friend.
It's okay to ease back in to socializing. The main thing is to get to feeling healthy and strong.
I think we have to advocate for ourselves when we are recovering from an episode or managing through a med change. Sure .... we don't have casts or are completely bedridden but I do believe explaining that you're on doctor's orders to ease back into your regular routine is appropriate and necessary.
Take care, Beggar!!
I could see him making a point of saying something to the person you both know, rather than rudely leave without acknowledging them.
But it would have been a lot better if he could have said something other than what he did.
If he HAD to give them some sort of explanation as to why you guys were leaving and without you saying anything, he could have said something like 'My wife isn't feeling too well right now. We have to get going.'
Even at my best I could do without someone telling someone else I was purposely not going to talk to them before I left.
I hope your husband 'got it' when you told him it hurt your feelings!!!
I think that so soon after being psychotic, it's probably very common to feel less comfortable than usual!!
I think it will take a bit of time to fully recover from the experience!!
Good luck!!! I hope you feel better soon!!!
