(Part one) The Cliff September 2, 2009
Youre important to me, please hold on, dont let go. DONT JUMP. You know how I was saying in another note (the first one I wrote), how I am at the edge and if Im not careful I will fall? How I dont want to fall but wonder if I want to continue to stand there waiting? How I said I didnt want to be alone but if someone else were there they might push me? Well I backed away from the edge for a couple days. I am sitting under the tree thats ten feet away from the edge. Resting; with my eyes closed until I hear footsteps. I open my eyes to see you moving towards the edge. I get up and follow you. You turn to see me and I can see in your eyes you want to go; want to disappear out of this world (am I right?) I was like that a few nights ago I can see that if I leave you alone on that edge right now, you WILL jump and I cant let you! Please, dont jump.
If you jump, I will jump with you. Okay maybe not so much jump but I will fall. Maybe not fall to the same place YET. Please, dont do this. There is another way, the sun will come out, it will shine above our heads on this edge were standing on. The dark clouds will go away it just takes time. Its a storm, a bad storm but I promise the storm will end, it all will go away.
I watch you, noticing your medium length reddish blonde (dyed) hair, and your blue eyes. I see that you are not wearing the proper clothing for being on a cliff; sandals, pants, a green tank top (that Im not used to seeing you wear, you dont usually wear tank tops and I wonder why you are today) and a sweater folded over your left arm.
I close my eyes and I can actually picture us standing on that cliff, near the edge, away from the tree, with storm clouds. You telling me that you cant go on anymore and I am refusing to let you go. I can picture two alternate endings. One where you dont jump and after a while of us sitting AWAY from the edge under the tree, where it stops storming and the sun comes out and the other ending I dont want to see it, I cant.
your back cover is a perfect description about what is to to be a teenager/young adult facing the world on their own. Damn I remember that and don't want to go back there again! It is also a perfect preamble to the actual story.
glad you think so
