I was 34.. I was dx'd in the hospital. I'm 53 now. I've been on all sorts of different cocktails. Now I take Risperdal and it works well except for tiredness.

22. (I'm 35 now) It was by a referral from my Doctor after I told him about my mental health issues.

My twenties...I ran away frequent times. One time to Sydney, Australia from Chicago. Long story. Had strange delusions, and paranoia.

Between 18-25, I was given different diagnoses but at 25, it was schizoaffective disorder. I was diagnosed in the hospital after a psychotic episode.

It was so long ago I can't even remember. Got discharged from the Army on medical grounds. Was in Iraq one minute then the next thing I knew I was been held against my will & everyone around me was crazy, but I was normal. Well that's what I thought anyway. Turns out I was in the local psych ward. I was in my 20's at the time. My P.Doc. came to see me & I thought she had come to take me home. Turns out she dx'd me with bp/PTSD.

I had about 5 bad years where I had episodes but no doctors, before being dx'd at 23. (I'm 37.) I wound up in the hospital on an involuntary hold for a bad mixed episode. I have been in the hospital a lot. I am now hospital free for 2+ years though!!!

I guess I'm the baby of the group.... I was 16 when they dx me but I stayed getting treated for it when I was 21.

I was diagnosed bipolar at 35 years old... I think that was my first psychosis though
I had been treated since 23 for depression and anxiety that started in my teens....lol... I think a lot of us had been struggling since a young age even if we weren't diagnosed right away

48, my life would have been completely different if I'd
gotten on meds sooner.

I was forty and it was in a mandatory psyche hospital where I got my Dx I was psychotic when I went there and they put me on meds and even after a month when I got to leave I was still having psychotic features but Snoop Dog talked to me through the TV so that was on the plus side!!lol!

I was 31 but all of my life I would tell docs there was something wrong with me. Nobody listened. But they sure listened when I took an overdose and ended up in ICU. I meet an angel of a pdoc and he took care of me for many, many years. He was brilliant!

Ive struggled all my life with mood swings and various degrees of instability both on the hypomanic end and depressive end. I wasn't diagnosed until I was 38 (Im now 40) after I ended up in the hospital again for my third suicide attempt and went inpatient.
