Aspergers comorbid with Mood Disorder NOS

My son was diagnosed with Aspergers and comorbid Mood disorder NOS, instead of previously just bipolar. His mood though cycles several times during the day and on a biweekly cycle. When he's in a good mood he's the perfect boy (no exaggeration). In a bad mood it's hell with defiance, violence, and aggression and a short fuse.

Does anybody else have a similar case (Asperger with Bipolar) where the symptoms just appear/disappear depending on the mood? How do you treat that?

I promise I'm not stalking you. I have aspergers and bipolar - like most my bipolar didn't show up until I was 19 but my aspergers bit was always there.

I never cycled several times a day, I just have classic bipolar, the bigger cycles tend to be once a decade and last up to 6 months though I have mini ups and downs which generally last days/weeks.

Thanks for sharing. I've never been stalked by a fish ;) I'm bipolar myself, but thanks to meds I'm stable now. I'm thinking part of his issues might be the Ritalin he's on for his ADHD. I was on Ritalin once and it messed me up and put me into a hypomania and cycling. Then yesterday in the hospital they increased it from 20 to 40 and when I visited him he reported that his mood was completely all over the place during the day, more so than usual. So now I'm thinking to take him off completely, live with him bouncing off the walls, but see if it stabilizes his mood. Sad that it's me who has to think of this and not one of his many doctors.
How has your bipolar/aspergers affected you functioning wise? Did you have a lot of anger and rage? That's our biggest problem with him now and we don't have a good handle on it, yet.

    Wow, it's the middle of the week already!Today is our 11 year anniversary, so we're going out to a nice dinner.  I'm losing a lot of sleep these days, hence a wonky schedule and uncomfortable feelings.  But I know it will pass, eventually.I hope all of you have a peaceful day, and may good things come your way!
