If you name the medication then people who know a lot more than me might be able to help you in some way. Also who prescribed the meds and what for? All I can do is really wish you the very best and happy trails!

You have much to learn. Bipolar is where you have chemical imbalances that cause either manic "too happy" highs or depressive lows or even mixed mood. We don't have control over that imbalance and can only learn to cope. Meds help, but nothing cures or fixes it.
A lot of people with depression are being prescribed mod stabilisers (main type of meds for bipolar) along with antidepressants because some of the mood stabilizers also have antidepressant effects and also help to maintain the proper levels of other brain chemicals that the usual antidepressants can't do.
I've not heard of a test for bipolar, but that would be quite helpful if someone figured it out. It requires a doctor's diagnosis. If you haven't been diagnosed, then your doctor doesn't think so.

What they said. Bipolar has to be diagnosed by a doctor not a google search. I used to take anti seizure medication but not becaus I have epilepsy. I also take a drug for diabetic nerve pain but I am. It diabetic. These drugs and many others are often used for conditions other than what they were made for. Tell us what drugs you are taking so we can be more specific.

My tablets are called quetiapine. He said anti depressants won't help me. And because I use to cut my self aswell. I do have really down days and they just come from no where

That's Seroquel. It has lots of positive purposes. Research it at drugs.com

I will. I have been on anti depressants for 12 years and none of them have helped. There is only this one what helps me

Seroquel is very sedating so it basically means that even if you aren't bipolar it would suppress symptoms probably.

Cutting is frequently associated with borderline personality disorder which can look like bipolar - did you tell him you were cutting?

Did he say why he's put you on quietapine? I think it's used of label (as are some of the other anti-psychotics) for unipolar depression

Yeah I told him how I felt and why I cut myself. Av not cut for about 4 weeks now. I don't get down or anything like I did. I still over think everything but am seeing a councillor aswell

He said he is putting me on then to see if they help amd I see him every 2 weeks. He wants to monitor me

ok, quitapine is used also for depression, OCD, general anxiety disorder and other things off label.

I suggest when you go back to him in 2 weeks you ask him why he is trying it and if he thinks you are bipolar.
