Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
I don't know about asexual .
I'm married ,But I do have a hard time connecting and feeling emotions.
Intimacy is not my favorite thing.
Good luck . I hope you find the answers you are looking for.
Talk to your general doctor, get some tests done, and if all else fails, it might just be meds!!!!
I know in the past I have felt like I was incapable of loving, your young, you never know what your future might bring!
Keep your eyes and heart open just in case....
Have you talked to the doctor who treated your hormonal imbalance if that can be an effect of it? I'd start there if I were you. A hormonal imbalance could definitely cause a total lack of sexual desire.
It IS a possibility that you just haven't found the right person. I have heard of people saying that they didn't care a fig about 'romance' on any level until they met that special someone, and then everything changed. But that's pretty rare, too.
There may be something 'wrong' (different) with your biochemical makeup, but that doesn't mean there's something wrong with you as a person, just because you are the way you are.
This is getting really personal, but I think it's worth mentioning here that if you never masturbate, that would probably point to a physical cause. (Assuming you're not abstaining for other reasons.)
I would definitely start by investigating it from physical angle, first.
That would include ruling out any disorders that might be responsible for it, like Asperger's/Autism.
That sometimes makes for a lack of sex drive and when you're very high-functioning, it doesn't always get diagnosed even though it's there.
If you are truly just one of those rare birds who is naturally asexual, I wouldn't feel bad about that. Not everyone is meant to be with someone. They may be in the minority but there's plenty of people who prefer to live alone.
The only thing that makes this a big problem is the fact that you want to have children.
And even that can be done by artificial insemination, as long as raising a child on your own is acceptable to you and you can provide for all your child's needs.
It's kind of bothersome to be different than the vast majority of people, but it doesn't mean there's something wrong with you as a person.
Try to think of it as 'different' rather than 'wrong'!!! Or maybe 'unusual' is an apt way to put it, too!!!
Good luck!!!! Whatever the answer is, I hope that you will be at peace with it!!! (((((Hugs)))))
Kids have sex at a very early age , in many cases.
Most women do not experience orgasm until the age of 19 or so.
So really , you are not so far behind in your responsive feelings.
As other people have mentioned, see a Dr, have your hormone levels checked, it might be a simple solution, especially if you are feeling like you want to have some kind of relationship with another person.
And yes, asexual isn't common, but it does happen.
if you want children , but not be in a sexual relationship, well, there are options for that too.
Are you depressed? (lack of pleasure in other areas also therefore?)
Could be you are a late bloomer though. x

You mentioned hormonal imbalance. I had that because of the endometriosis and the ovary. I don't know the cause of yours, but I bet if you can get treatment for it your drive will appear. Please talk more with your doctor about this. There are many treatment options and many of them won't leave you unable to still have children like my hysterectomy did. (I already had my children by then).
I also agree with what others say, our society really goes overboard with sexualizing everything. Not everyone are the horny-toads tv makes us all out to be. And I still wouldn't feel comfortable having sex with someone I wasn't very close to. I'm a pretty shy person and so far, the only way I've been able to feel comfortable and achieve orgasm is by myself. None of my partners ever made me feel comfortable enough (probably because it turned out they were abusive, and I was picking up red flags).
So, talk to your doctor more, seek treatment, don't rush yourself, and listen to your body... sometimes we don't feel the desire for a reason (like with my abusive partners). Also, I needed therapy because of the abuse and some childhood trauma that put a kink in my sexuality.
