I'm so sorry for you. Can you borrow money from a family member or perhaps you have some savings that can spell you through this difficult time. I know it will be hard but you'll figure it out somehow.

My father died when I was 14. We were to receive survivor benefits, my brother, my mother and I. Well, all of a sudden, we got a letter stating that they had over payed my brother and would be discontinuing benefits for my mother and me. Never did see another dime. And now I'm filing for disability. I wonder if I will have any faith that the system will get it right.

Wouldn't it be great if the government ate their mistakes rather than gouging the recipients when an error is discovered? Which candidates support that position? They'd get my vote. Does your town have an Action Council? Ours helps with housing, food, utilities etc. for this type of situation.

It is a b*tch to try and fight social security. altho I was in end stage Liver failure it took 2 years to get my ssi . I realy belive my case worker was hoping I would die first. No Back Pay. well surprized I lived and my lawyer won. Good luck and my prayers are with you

You might have general assistance programs in your area. It is from the township in my area. They give short term cash assistance if you have financial issues that are going to be resolved. Also, electric companies usually have some type of financial hardship program. I would look into county/township programs, utilities programs...as well as, TANF and food stamps. Your county human services department usually has that information. You can also do a google search online to find services in your area.

I get $20 in foodstamps a month...that is excluding Will from the picture so no more foodstamps for us. I don't like it but I have to put my son first.

There is a local church that will give ya a few bags of food on mon, tues and friday......heading there and then the place in the next town over too. Atleast I make enough to cover the bills.....as far as food and gas, toilet paper and things like that.....we are going to be begging, borrowing and praying.

When in an shall I say uncomfortable time in my life I did the following: I got on the phone and called every government assistance place I could find. It helped we got food assistance.

Also when hubby was laid off work we got food stamps for one month only. There was one month where virtually nothing was coming in so we got assistance for the one month only.

Churches and local food banks could be of help also.

Angel Food Ministries does cost but you get a lot of food from what I am told for little money.

If you have an Aldi in your area check them out also they are a grocery store. They are cheaper than most other stores and carry mostly their brands and very few name brand things.
