I don't know why they did that. When I first went to the crisis center, I had to meet with a therapist first and then I got an appt with the doc about 3 weeks later. But "I was already on medication that the hospital had given me. I am now seeing the doc once a month to get my meds change/tweaked. I don't know why they didn't give you a prescription. Clinics can be hard to deal with because they are overwhelmed with work. You can call them and find out. Be an advocate for yourself. I had to learn how to do that. They should have put you on meds. I don't know why they didn't. I would definitely give them a call and ask about it. A month is a long time away!

I had a similar experience quite recently. I completely understand your frustration. I think that it is because we both went to a clinic where they have a lot of patients, so the scheduling is nuts. The clinic I went to managed to lose my intake paperwork, scheduled me to see someone almost a month after my intake, scheduled me to see someone on vacation, closed my case, and made me complete another intake. I finally got in for an appointment yesterday and freaked out the inexperienced (looked like he was just out of college) guy that was doing my intake. He wanted to send me to the emergency room. I managed to talk him down and now I have an appointment for medication tomorrow. I sympathize with your situation with a great big, UGH.

And depending on whether you saw a therapist or a P-doc is why you didn't get meds..

If you saw at Psychologist they don't script meds..Psycharist do.

And that sucks..I understand it took me almost 6 months after my therapist dx'd me before I could get in.

If you get in real distress go to ER..that is what I was told by the office.

I met with a therapist a week ago and she got me a doc appointment on the 8th. She first asked if i was willing for meds, i said yes, and she told me the meds would be discussed with the doctor. She wrote a few notes down and gave and an appointment card.

Oh being an advocate is tough for me. I've had my best friend do all the word for me in the first place. I get too nervous to the point i cant find the words or just end up hanging up midst of conversation.

maybe they just forgot i'd call them!
or they want you to see the psychaiatrist first

SU..I am an advocate for my husband because he is like..can't think or say the right thing..and totally understates what is wrong. It is a good thing you have a friend that is willing to help you.

Yeah and he has his own problems too but he manages well with his meds. Being that he's also my ex fiance he cares a great deal and hes proud of my steps for recovery. He's willing to do anything for me as long as I keep seeing a doctor and take meds when I'm supposed to so it kind of works out.

But I also understand that like...eventually I HAVE to start doing things on my own. Sucks.

I can wait for my next appt. It will be a psychiatrist who will prescribe me. I've gone my entire life without meds or dx so I should be fine until then. just frustrated and anxious about meds being that I'm going out tonight and those triggers attack me most when I leave my house.
