So, I got into a pretty big fight with my best friend almost 5 months ago. There were many fissure in our relationship before this so it was probably coming for over a year before we broke it off.
Things are getting good between us now and we started small by going for coffee and then even went on a local day trip together. Still, I get the feeling that it's never going to be what it used to be - maybe that's a good thing given that like I said, I saw this coming for a while and we kind of had an unhealthy relationship.
I really do want to be friends with her even if we aren't as close as we used to be, and I also think that she wants to be friends. I get the feeling, even though things are still a bit awkward between us.
I really want to have a discussion with her at some point about exactly what went wrong so that we can "clear the air", but I don't want to harm the relationship especially since it's getting better now and I don't want to make it awkward or bring up past stuff if it's just going to get us both angry at each other. I just don't know if we can have a true relationship without acknowledging the hurt that was there. Like I don't think we can just ignore it.
I'm not sure how to broach the subject, and like I said, I don't want to make it awkward or worse than it is right now. Any advice? Should I just let it go and never talk about it? Or is there a way to diplomatically talk about it?
Thanks for your advice.

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

focus on the `now', and the things that make her a good friend `in the now'
However if you believe the friendship is on more solid ground now and some of the toxicity is in the past perhaps you're better off to let it go... maybe it has changed but perhaps it's for the better??...x
