I have taken lamictal for years... no problem at all ... I take 300 mg... ((hugs)) polar

I've been taking Lamictal since 2008. It's a great medication for bipolar depression. It has a fairly low side effect profile, but do notify your doctor if you develop a rash (to rule out Stevens-Johnson syndrome). Hope it works for you!

I was in lamictal for about two years. I took it in combination with celexa and zyprexa. No complaints here. Dr only took me off it because he put me in lithium and wants the lithium to be my only drug so he is slowly weaning me off everything else.

Never tried it. I credit Zyprexa and Cymbalta with saving my life!

Hated the stuff. When I was driving my car, on a sunny day...I would jump at cars that appeared to be too close. I heard that it makes your eyes sensitive to light..so I told my last Pdoc to take me off of it...fast.

I was on it and I really liked it.... I had to go off of it due to a side effect but I felt good on it for a couple of years.....x

I have been on it for about a year and it normally really helps my moods. They told me to watch for a rash and notify them if I got one and that the rash could occur anytime even after you have been on it a while. Fortunately I haven't had any problems and wouldn't come off of it as long as it's my choice. Best of luck!!

I have been taking Lamictal for 2 years. It has really helped to stabilize my good mood. I don't see any negative side affects & I'm on a pretty high dose. It works well with my antipsychotic medication Saphris

It worked well for me when I had to come off of Lithium, but I got the "rash",so I had to switch to Tegretol, and thats been great for me since then.

i found lamictal and saphris and tegretol caused weight gain so i went right off them.

I took it for 6 years and it never made a difference. I finally told my pdoc to take me off of it. Again, nothing happened.

Definitely depends on your body and your brain chemistry. "Next drug" to try- that part is miserable. The starting and stopping and switching. It is hard to stay hopeful during all of these transitions, but when you find the right one, it is worth it!
I was put on Lamictal before they knew I had Bipolar- so treating me just for depression. It caused me to go off the deep end- so reading the word Lamictal makes me cringe. I definitely need a mood stabilizer along with an antidepressant.
I am pretty sure most people who have gone through multiple medicines have ones that make them *cringe*. Best of luck to you! I hope things work out for you.
