I can't for the life of me teash apart my intelligence from my impulsiveness. I am interested in research which describes the neurology, and not the typical reserch that only says it's a symptiom, of the phenomenom in BP.

I don't have much for you.

My Pdoc says impulsiveness is a trait of bipolar disorder....so, maybe it is a chemical thing ?

Honestly? I don't have a Clue, never did any research on it. (just Lived it, lol)

...but I Truly believe it has a lot to do with those doggoned Happy Chemicals in our brains...dopamine, serotonin.....seriously.

When we have too Much of them, well, why NOT just go All Out, spend, spend, buy, buy, do, do, Experience, experience, Live, Live.....because It Feels Good!!!!

Start searching. I don't have any interest in the topic myself. All the traits I can think of are not exclusive to BP.

They aren't exclusive, but there is a direct correlation between BP & impulsiveness that excludes spending money such as sexual promiscuity. Happy chemicals???? More like self-destructive and dangerous ones.

There is research and theory along the lines of related and overlapping conditions/brain functions. One I've read about is ad(h)d and BP, a core symptom being impulsiveness. Have you come across this approach?

I sometimes look at pubmed....
