Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
Just my personal method. Unfortunately, it is not a panacea, but I am not at all sure the panacea exists for this problem. I sincerely hope you find one that at least eases the pain of it.
I try to not give my power to it. What I mean by that is when I feel it I just acknowledge it and that's it. I try not to feed into it and I go about what I'm doing. I'm not sure what else you can do considering you already take meds for it.
I don't know if it would work for everyone, but I find yoga does help. It's a really good way to keep your mind distracted, and you are still focusing on your body at the same time. This really helps me to mellow out. Something to do with the chakra points, they are located where all the nerve clusters in your body are. This really does help!
Another thing I do is go for a swim, even in the winter months I go to something like the YMCA and it cost maybe $2. Water is really calming.
Hope this helps, wish I had more ideas =)
These are the things I do when high anxiety: read a book, start a knitting project, shop, get on the phone, go see the kids, pop bubble paper (crazy, but it helps relieve stress), go to the library. I also find yoga helps relieve the muscle aches and pains from anxiety.
I hope you feel better. MK
My anxiety is gets the better of me as well. I take part in meditation classes and that helps a lot...at least for a couple of days. And I can do this on my own as well. It clears negative energy and helps your mind focus on one thing. I find that to be so calming. It's better than me trying to fight a million bad, anxiety invoking thoughts anyway. Just a thought. Maybe try simple meditations at home. There are plenty of relaxing music stations on Pandora that would help you get into that frame of mind. I find if it takes my mind off of the anxiety for at least 20 minutes...then so be it...it's better than worrying 100% of the time.
some of the anti psychotics can give you anxiety
i hope you get better soon
