Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.

I was once told I needed to 'let go of my depression' and I couldn't handle hearing that. They didn't know what I had been through. But many years later, I developed tools to process and work through that depression.

My sister calls me up (I live in another state now) about once a week, and she Always has bad stories to tell me about family, or neighbors...her FB posts that she shares are Always about crime, or animal cruelty, etc etc. Oh, I *know* about the bad things that happen, but could she be "addicted to negatives"? Does she feel like she "has" to be miserable about all the stuff? (You know what they say...misery loves company).
It's not even negative people! My OTHER sister (whom I have long dubbed "MaryPoppinsPollyannaMotherTheresa") always has a Song to sing me! And tells me about the 50 INCREDIBLE things she has gotten done before lunchtime! And how MANY people in the world just invented the best things since the light bulb!! ....Um, I Love hearing positive stories and Love the fact that she does so well, but I am Exhausted when we get off the phone, too. Just like with the first sister. Is she so addicted to happiness that it's like a sugar high?
Can we be gossip junkies, 'bad mood' junkies, 'happy dance' junkies....is it part of our Nature to just go all obsessive in one direction or another? And if so, how to we find a Balance so we won't be all one-sided?
I wonder if your therapist has good Suggestions to go along with her ideas? :?
