Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
I stopped letting it ALWAYS win. I found that "waiting to feel better" before doing things did not work. It was making myself do things that made me feel better. I am fortunate to have a good support system and I am very self conscious about performing as high functioning as possible and taking care of my family. I do know when I NEED to slow down or just shut down a few days but I also know when my disorder is trying to control my life.

Honestly I was pretty stubborn pain in the butt as a kid. I'm not sure I always did keep going, even when I was told I had too. But I'm sure I did accomplish more even when I didn't feel well. I remember getting ill as a child and it never effected my energy. Now I get ill and I'm miserable and knocked out. So there's a definite difference between then and now.
