Good morning DS, well it's almost noon here but I haven't got out if bed yet...its cold for GA. I've got to get up and going to my volunteer thing, I'm just not in the mood but have a good time when I get there.

I've got a question about Abilify...has.it caused mania for any of you? My hb is taking it along with celexa and ever since he's been nonstop looks like some manic behavior to me. He is not diagnosed with bipolar, so I wonder if he's really not and the med is making him hyper. I took Abilify and it took me down..leveled me out.

How long has he been taking it? I ask because the first month or so, it hyped me up and made me restless. It finally went away, but it was noticeable when it happened initially.

I took it for about 2 years and it didn't really make me manic so much as it made me really anxious and restless, which I suppose in some folks could manifest as mania. Since it's an antipsychotic, I would think it would be less likely to provoke mania.

My biggest thing was I needed to take benzos for anxiety side-effects plus it gave me akathasia (compulsive restlessness- like always moving your legs.)

Isnt Celexa an antidepressant? Anti depressants ( celexa was hell for me- can anyone say FREAKED OUT!) arent very good for people with bipolar without a mood stabilizer.

Abilify leveled me out big time. LOVE IT!!!

when i took abilify i had severe tremors and had to stop-i switched to lamotrigine and it was the best thing that ever happened to me!

Abilify helped with my depression and also acts as a mood stablizer. Keeps me level with no mania or rages or irritability etc...

I use Abilify to deal with my mania. I used to take Seroquel and all it did was sedate me, with Abilify I can have a life and control my mania.

i was taken off abilify, but my psychiatrist told me at low doses, abilify can cause restlessness and sleep difficulties, and once the dose gets higher, it is very sedating and should be taken at night.

I'm bp, it made me really hyper, I usually have a very low mood otherwise, ended up attempting suicide, I got so agitated on it.

Abilify was very stimulating to me. I was wound up, couldn't eat, couldn't sleep, became psychotic. I would think it could be making him manic.

I know meds can have different effects on different people. Maybe its really helping him and he is getting leveled. He is diagnosed with adhd that may be it too. Its such a huge contrast in a week ago..that money coming through took alot of stress off both if us.
