Abilify for depression?

Hey guys. Well I have been on abilify before, for manic psychosis and it gave me weird muscle spasms. But my doctor yesterday suggested an abilify injection and said it would work differently and actually stimulate dopamine and help with my current depression. I could not care less about going manic and I almost wish I WOULD go manic again because I actually enjoy my mania. I am worried that this injection is going to prevent me from coming out of depression. My question is has anyone here used Abilify for depression? Does it actually work? Again, I am not interested in medications that prevent mania. I would rather be manic 24 7 than depressed. Thanks.

I take abilify by mouth for depression and other unpleasant manic behaviors such as agitation, racing thoughts, etc... It has helped a lot with my depression. Nothing worked before. I take it with Wellbutrin.

I am on 30mg of Abilify for depression and also for manic behaviors. It has also helped me a lot with the depression. I don't do well on anti depression meds, they tend to send me into mania so I'm lucky Abilify works with depression as well.

Antipsychotics, such as abilify, treat depression, through treating mania. Manic episodes have an elastic band effect.

Antidepressants sometimes induces mania, which makes depression worse, and it's said to have no effect on lab mice, as I recall anyone with bipolar who's tried them would guess.

Mood stabilizers treat both mania and depression. I take Saphris, an antipsychotic/moodstabilizer, which works perfectly, so long as I take it properly, get plenty of sleep, and avoid alcohol.

Moodstabilizers/antipsychotics have never brought me to the level I'm at now, though, without the assistance of modern-day ECT. With 3 treatments over a course of two weeks, I felt like I've never before, and Saphris keeps me there.

My experience with Abilify is I didn't notice my depression improving. Plus it made my fasting blood sugar sore up to 328. My normal fasting with oral diabetic meds is from 90 to 130. Yes 130 is too high but 328 is really high. I was taking oral diabetic meds while on Abiliify.

    Happy Tuesday. I only have a few tasks today. I'm currently enjoying my coffee and checking social media and emails. It's gonna be almost 90 degrees today so I have to monitor the dogs outside activities  How's Tuesday looking for you?
