Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
I use visualizing for solving problems. A scientist said that he never thought of answers to problems at his desk. He would study the problem until he knew everything about it, then forget about it, and later the answer would just occur to him, while he was walking in the woods, for example. Ive found that answers to problems will often come to me as mental images, and when I think I have an idea Ill look at a wall or ceiling and see if an image comes to mind that suggests a solution.
Negative thinking really makes trouble for us when it comes to anxiety and depression, but strictly speaking what cognitive therapy aims at is thinking thats accurate and relevant. A reality check when you have an unpleasant mood shift is very helpful.
I dont have to tell you that theres a lot of stress in your profession. If youre interested in the subject of stress reduction methods, Ill recommend looking at one of the books for nurses and physical therapists on chronic pain.
