This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.

So Irish is right the Community on the Board has dwindled as we all find our way through Covid pergatory. So why not a little game to keep things interesting, light and well informative.
So what were your 3 most notorious Manic Episodes, your Worst, your Wierdest and your Most Expensive???
Mine are....
Worst: 3 weeks of not sleeping for days at a time, then catching a random hour here or there, not eating period, bouncing around doing a million things at a time....got sent home from work early because I kept having many blackouts, so I got in my car to go home (yes the idiots let me DRIVE home) and half way there on a 2 lane road in the Country, ended up passing out, crossing over the opposing lane of traffic and driving head on into a group of large decorative Boulders at the edge of someone's yard. It took the Fire Department about an hour to cut me out of the car with the Jaws of Life. Severe concussion, cracked the cadaver bone implant in the front of my left knee, deep lacerations on my upper arm, and had bruises and contusions literally over 80% of my body. Turns out when you don't eat for days on end a Hypoglycemic attack is a probability!
Wierdest: Was convinced I had to paint the inside of the house. Unfortunately most of this I thought I had to do in the middle of the night...so I was like standing on my sons bed at 3:00a.m. painting walls, bopping around him while he was trying to sleep. Had all the lights in the house on and paint and dropcloths and ladders everywhere. It was insane.
Most Expensive: $37,000. Bought a new car. Was out on the weekend shopping and decided to pull in the dealership and look around. My then hubby and I both had cars/trucks that were only a couple of years old...so in no way shape or form did I need a new car. But it was the perfect shade of metalic sparkly maroon...so that convinced me I had to have it.
I so do not miss those kinds of Manic Episodes, do not miss them at all.

Do you think having anxiety could lead into depression? What are your thoughts?

also used to paint at all hours of the night. Glossed the inside of the front door once and my oldest got up before me (he was 2yrs old) and of course etched designs with his fingernails all over the bottom part of the door! Couldn't find the heart to punish him - it was too much fun for a toddler to resist.
spent about 15,000 (the curse of the credit card!) on one of my trips to the US on a holiday that I did not need and bought tons of designer gear for my kids that they neither wanted not needed. took a while to pay that back.
Most fun was being manic as hell at my son's 21st party flitting all over the place and the utter stupidity of a sibling telling me afterwards how nice it was to see me in such 'good form' and back to 'normal'. lol
I too do not miss the manic days. at all.
I didn't sleep for 8 days and was having shadow people jump at me.... I heard men talking in the bushes.... Was completely paranoid
I was aware though that this was delusional .. I never lost sight of that.... I was put on Perphenazine and it brought me down in about 3 days...
I still didn't really sleep until it worked well but I was more relaxed and able to rest
I struggled with the crazy spending .... Bought a sports car and drove up a credit card over 20,000 dollars... sigh..... and was using 3 others
What a mess huh
I have 1 credit card now with a pretty low limit
It's never been fun for me... Always mixed.... Paranoia and anger if I'm not well so I never have had the desire to stay in an unwell state
I was more stifled by paranoia then wild manic child. I just perpetually felt like people were f$&@ing with me.
Oh wait! Once I walked to a store and read from a bible and a kind stranger sat with me and brought me water and she was watching out for me and told me we were spiritual sisters. Her mom was a minister, because I gave her my phone number which I don’t even remember but she called me and she told me some interesting things that have been a big part of my journey of understanding this illness.
Other than that, I never did anything else outrageous except walk like a maniac. I just started walking like when Forrest Gump said he just started running and he ran and ran across the country. I just walked and walked (sometimes bc paranoia made me too afraid to board a bus). And while I was recovering in Europe after a new pdoc rearranged my meds I was able to walk and walk around Paris. I would walk home from jobs - like ten miles sometimes......
Now, my manic writings???? I’d have to reread them - which Id be afraid to - to be able to see where my mind was. I always dreamed of being a writer but writing overtakes me, like I’m in some creepy movie where I’m some sort of scribe from the past. Haha. Soooooo I guess my creativity is intertwined with my mania. I don’t really touch on it much bc I’m afraid.
I need to get rid of those things at some point so my Son does not have to deal with those boxes of "crazy" when I croak!
