A BIG opportunity

I've been out of work for going on 2 years. I believe I've found the right cocktail, been feeling pretty great, but it hasn't been that long.

I decided to start volunteering, to get back into my field of work. I called my old job to thank the physicist and doc for their references, and found out they have an available position. I LOVED my job...and so horribly want to go back.

I see my pdoc next week and am going to run it by him to see if he'll release to me back to work after 8 weeks of volunteering and I feel well, and I'm going to ask my former job to hold the position if they can.

Do you think this is a smart move?

Thanks Boxy. :) I've always thought that it was the big final piece to the puzzle...once I go back to work, then I've learned to cope/ found the right cocktail. haha.

Go for it Hanna,I just went back to work, now that i am feeling much better and i loved it.Gave me back some confidence and showed me yes I still can work.Good luck and I think it is a smart move if you feel ready to give it a go.

ONLY if the work can fit around you.

I'm a great advocate for there to be self-employment opportunities for Bipolars, as we are great workers when well but not so great when the BlackDog barks!

I'm really happy to hear you are feeling strong enough to consider taking this position. You'd have a lot of positives going into it: people who already know you well, familiar work environment and known work expectations. If you can look at that and still say "yes", I think you are ready. If you've managed to work the past eight weeks successfully, its a good indicator.

It sounds like your on the right track and headed in the right direction. I know from my standpoint not working for six years now that working is a good thing. My goal is to also get med steady, volunteer first then return to work.

That is outstanding news Hanna. I am glad you are doing so well and I think that human contact is the thing that truly makes us feel better. Being trapped in your mind at home is so taxing sometimes. Go back girl you are doing the right thing if it feels right!
