I totally ignore jury duty. Don't tell anybody. Shhhh lol

haha my dad does too. but i'm really hoping that i just don't have to deal with it. haha

I sincerelly doubt that if you are bipolar you have to deal with it. I'm on disability so I know I don't have to.

They would knock me off right away anyway. It would be a wast of tome. I just don't bother. Although I should probably call my lawyer and ask her about it anyway.

I think if you say you are mentally ill you would not be a credible juror. Bottom line. That's my take anyway. It would get you off a jury pretty fast. IIMHO.

i agree with RKB. but i wouldn't reccommend just ignoring it. you can get into trouble that way.

I didn't go a couple years ago. I just said i was trying to come out of a major depression and the nature of the trial would be very damaging to my progress. (in simailar words)

thats pretty badass. ive yet to get pulled for jury duty thankfully...its been years. however if they ask me how i'm doing ill tell them that i'm busy thrashing around like a posessed hatian in my car in my off time until I scare myself and scream and run in the house. That ought to get me off jury duty.

I got my jury summons some years ago...after my DX of BP.I called the Jury Commisioner,explained that I was BP,she said get a letter on my Pdoc letterhead,submit it to the court...that's the last I've ever heard from the Courts,and that was like 5 yearsa ago.

a long long time ago way before dx, i just wrote back and said i had difficulty making decisions. they let me off. it was true, i would never had been able to decide guilty or innocent.

but then there was one year i wanted to be on it. i think i looked to anxious to be picked and was eliminated after the lawyers looked us over. lol

I, personally, find it interesting. The only time I asked off was in the midst of a major depression and was granted it with a doc note.

I think it is our duty as any other citizen but if we are not well enough, honesty is best, especially since we may have someones best interest at heart in judging. I think the attorneys and judge are pretty aware of our stability when questioning us. Some of them, Prosecuting, look for instability, just depends which way we go.

I think if you are doing ok, then do the jury duty. If not, get a note. I don't think we should be automatically eliminated just b/c we have BP.
